About the Department

The GBV (Gender-Based Violence) & Youth Friendly Clinic at Nyeri County Referral Hospital offers a compassionate, safe, and confidential environment for survivors of GBV and for young people aged 10–24. We are dedicated to providing timely, holistic, and survivor-centered care with a multidisciplinary approach. All services are provided free of charge, ensuring accessibility for those in need.

Free Services Offered

  • Trauma Counselling – Specialized psychological support for GBV survivors to aid emotional healing.

  • Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) – HIV prevention treatment administered within 72 hours of exposure.

  • STI Prophylaxis – Preventive treatment for sexually transmitted infections.

  • Emergency Contraceptives – To prevent pregnancy following sexual assault.

  • Tetanus & Hepatitis B Vaccination – Prevention of infections following physical or sexual assault.

  • Sepsis Prevention – Early treatment to prevent systemic infection.

  • Filling of P3 Forms – Legal documentation required for police reporting.

  • Filling of PRC Forms – Post-rape care documentation for follow-up and evidence.

  • Referral Services – Connection to legal aid, shelter, medical specialists, or other support services.

  • Clinical Management of GBV Cases – Comprehensive medical examination, treatment, and documentation.

  • Youth Services (10–24 Years) – Focused medical and psychosocial services for adolescents and young adults.

  • Filling of Medical Certificates – For school entry (nursery to tertiary) and employment requirements.

  • Condom Distribution – Sexual health and HIV/STI prevention support for youth and adults.
