Outpatient Surgical Clinics – Evaluation of surgical conditions, follow-up of operated patients, minor procedures

Elective Surgeries – Herniorrhaphy, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hydrocelectomy, etc.

Emergency Surgeries – Exploratory laparotomy, intestinal obstruction, ruptured appendix, trauma surgery

Urological Procedures – Circumcision, prostatectomy, urethral dilatation, cystostomy

Soft Tissue Procedures – Abscess drainage, wound debridement, lipoma removal

Biopsy Services – Lymph node, breast, thyroid and abdominal mass biopsies for histopathology

Colostomy Formation & Reversal – For bowel diversion in cases of obstruction or injury

Wound Care & Postoperative Management – Dressing changes, physiotherapy referrals, infection control

Patient Workflow & Clinic Days

Monday to Friday – Surgical OPD clinics (Room 10)

Patients with elective surgical needs are assessed and scheduled

Emergency cases admitted via Casualty Department and prioritized for theatre

Postoperative patients reviewed during ward rounds or scheduled follow-ups
Training & Research

Supervision of medical officer interns, clinical officer interns, and medical students during rotations

Participation in clinical audits, mortality and morbidity meetings

Collaboration with surgical societies for skills development and surgical research

Linkages to Kenyatta National Hospital or teaching hospitals for complex or oncologic surgeries
