About the Department

The Audiology Department at Nyeri County Referral Hospital began operations in January 2022. It plays a vital role in curative, preventive, and rehabilitative care for individuals with hearing and balance disorders. The department collaborates closely with ENT, Speech Therapy, and other medical and surgical departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.

  • Hearing Tests – Screening using Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)

  • Vestibular Assessment and Rehabilitation – Evaluation and treatment of balance disorders and dizziness

  • Tinnitus Management – Therapies and strategies to manage ringing in the ears

  • Hearing Disability Assessment – Evaluation for registration or renewal of Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD)

  • Patient Education – Guidance on hearing loss, balance issues, treatment options, and prevention

  • Mentorship – Training and mentorship for colleagues and students in audiology

  • Appropriate Referrals – Linkage and referrals to relevant departments and institutions for continued care
